John M. Kaput

John M. Kaput, 96, of Conrad died Monday, July 21, 2014, at the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 24, at Conrad United Methodist Church in Conrad. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, at the Conrad Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes, 115 W. Grundy Ave. in Conrad. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Conrad United Methodist Church.

John was born Jan. 18, 1918, to Harm and Rachel (Kalkwarf) Kaput in Beaman. He attended Grundy County Country Schools. John was united in marriage to Molly Mae Stover on Aug. 28, 1940, at the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center. He farmed for more than 50 years near Whitten, retiring in 1980. John was an active member of the Methodist Church in Conrad. John valued helping others. He took pride in his farm and farming techniques. He enjoyed fishing and boating in Canada. John enjoyed teaching other fisherman how to clean Northerns.

John will be missed by his wife, Molly; two sons, Gary (Sandy) Kaput of Newton and Roger (Mary Ann) Kaput of Marshalltown; five grandchildren, Tara (Jason) Eintracht of Seattle, Wash., Travis (Alma) Kaput of San Antonio, Texas, Trisha Kaput of Chicago, Ill., Drew Kaput of Grinnell and Megan (Ryan) McGehee of State Center; three great-grandchildren, Landon and Brody Eintracht of Seattle and Nathan McGehee of State Center; and a nephew, Greg (Jean) Kaput of San Diego, Calif. John was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Reinheart Kaput; and a daughter-in-law, Anita Kaput.
