‘A Hometown Ridiculous Day!’ planned for the last Saturday in July on the square

Come early for the food and shopping and stay for the car show at the Newton Chamber of Commerce’s “A Hometown Ridiculous Day!”

Starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 26, vendors will be open on the north and west sides of the square for shoppers to get their fill of local food and products. The south and east sides of the square will remain open all day. Businesses already located on the square also may have bargains set out in front of their shops for customers to check out as well as deals inside.

For young and old alike there will be horse and carriage rides available for $2 from 10 a.m. to noon courtesy of Plume Hill Carriage.

After grabbing lunch, head over to the Cool Cars ’Round the Courthouse Car Show running from 1 to 3 p.m. Free to enter and attend, it is a show ‘n’ shine event with spots available on a first come, first served basis. With a wide variety of makes and models expected, spectators and entrants both will have a great time seeing and learning about the classic and unique cars. There will be two Best of Show trophies awarded for entrant and spectator choices.

Spaces are still available for the vender fair as well as sponsorship for the car show. For more information, contact the Chamber at (641) 792-5545 or info@experiencenewton.com. Registration for sponsorship is open until the show, but the Chamber cannot guarantee a name or logo appearing in advertisements after Monday.
