Academic Achievements

Saint Joseph’s College

Terence Cullen of Sully graduated from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine with a bachelor of science in biology/pre-medicine.

Cullen, a member of the Delta Epsilon Sigma National Honor Society, earned the Sister Mary Joseph Bouchard Award and the Timothy J. O’Connor Award.

Cullen also was named to the Dean’s List at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine for the spring semester.

Northwestern College

Jocelyn Van Dyke of Reasnor, a student at Northwestern College in Orange City has earned a spot on the academic dean’s list for the spring 2014 semester.

Van Dyke is a May graduate and a writing/rhetoric major.

Wartburg College

Wartburg College has recognized the following local students who made the 2014 winter/May term dean’s list: Morgan Blom of Reasnor, Sarah Kielly of Baxter, Meghan Parman of Colfax and Alexandria Samson of Prairie City.

The list cites students who earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above in at least five course credits during the two terms. Four of the five course credits must be graded with a traditional letter grade.

Mercy College

of Health Sciences

Graduates from Mercy College of Health Sciences during spring commencement exercises were area students Erin VanDerwerf of Monroe, associate of science in radiologic technology, and Errin Hale of Prairie City, associate of science in nursing.

Cameron Jones of Colfax, Erin VanDerwerf of Monroe and Shelly Hutchings of Prairie City have been named to the president’s list for the spring 2014 semester at Mercy College of Health Sciences in Des Moines. To qualify for the president’s list, students must attain a grade point average of 3.75 or higher, in their most recent semester, for a minimum of six credit hours.

Katelyn Buehrer of Colfax and Kaylee Woody of Monroe have been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2014 semester at Mercy College of Health Sciences in Des Moines. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must attain a grade point average between 3.5 and 3.749 in their most recent semester, for a minimum of six credit hours.

University of Dubuque

Area students appointed to the spring semester 2014 academic dean’s list at the University of Dubuque were Nicholas Ellis and Katelyn Jolivette, both of Newton.

To be named to the dean’s list, a student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for that semester.

Indian Hills

Community College

Kristina Miller of Newton was named to Indian Hills Community College’s academic Honor Roll for the 2014 Spring Term.

To be included on the Honor Roll an IHCC student must be enrolled full time and have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for the term.
