Critchfield sort of person needed in local government

To the editor:

I recently attended a local event in Newton that gave me a great sense of pride. The Jasper County Republicans hosted a fundraiser at the Jasper County Gun Club, and it was very enjoyable.

The idea for the event came from the chairman of the Jasper GOP, Marshall Critchfield. He envisioned the Trap Shoot, named it for one of our former residents, E.K. Shaw, and made it a reality on Saturday, April 12. Mr. Critchfield’s sense of leadership and management style did not go unnoticed, as evidenced by the arrival and participation of Gov. Branstad.

Mr. Critchfield is the sort of person we need in local government: a bright, capable leader with the imagination to envision great ideas and the wherewithal to make them happen. I am pleased he is running for Jasper County Recorder, and I am delighted to support him in this endeavor.
