Roscoe Eugene Lawson

Roscoe Eugene Lawson was born June 28, 1929, in Putnam County, near Sidney, Mo., to Herby Ray and Minnie Florence (Clay) Davis. He entered into rest on April 17, 2014, at 8:45 p.m. at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin at the age of 84.

Mr. Lawson worked for Maytag and owned and operated a Lawn Mower Repair Shop and car wash business for many years. He was baptized into Christ on Feb. 28, 1971. Mr. Lawson moved to Neosho in 1996, from Newton. He was a member and a teacher at the Church of Christ. Roscoe and Betty Aldridge were married on May 28, 1971, in Unionville, Mo., and she preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 2002.

He is survived by four daughters, Shirley Lester and husband, Gary of Newton, Pam Lester of Newton, Debbie Carman and husband, John of Amazonia, Mo., and Kimberly Nelson of Joplin; one son, Kevin Lawson of Galena, Kan.; one sister, Nora Lorene (Mrs. John) Williamson of Newton; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his first wife, Leola J. (O’Brien) Jones, whom he married in Oct., 1951, in Unionville, the mother of his three daughters, Shirley, Pam and Deb; his second wife, M. Elaine Fowler, whom he married on July 8, 1963, the mother of his son Kevin and daughter, Kim. In addition to his wife, Betty and his parents, he is preceded in death by a half-brother, Cecil; sister in law, Eailene Lawson; and two step-children, Terry Aldridge and Larry Aldridge. Roscoe loved and served The Lord.

Services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, April 25 at the Clark Funeral Chapel of Memories. Lee Owens will officiate. The family will receive friends from noon until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Savannah Cemetery in Bloomfield. Contributions in memory of Roscoe may be made to the Freeman Road Church of Christ, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
