Police Blotter

• Officers were called to the 400 block of North Second Avenue East at 12:24 a.m. on March 31 in the 400 block of North Second Avenue East following a report of a burglary-in-progress. Upon arrival, officers found Aaron D. Reeves, no age given, and his 15-year-old brother in the alleged victim’s garage, with the 15-year-old allegedly in the process of removing lug nuts from the victim’s vehicle. Reeves and his brother allegedly stated they were in the garage with permission, which the victim refuted. While investigating the incident, officers were approached by Margaret E. Reeves and Stephanie E. Petted. Officers asked Margaret Reeves if marijuana was present in her apartment; she said there wasn’t and gave her consent to a search. Officers immediately observed a marijuana grinder sitting on top of the living room television and stopped their search to call in Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement task force to apply for a search warrant. The four aforementioned people all reside in the apartment, as does Margaret Reeves’ juvenile daughter. Officers located a marijuana pipe under o couch in the living room, two pipes in the bedroom Margaret Reeves shared with her daughter, and ripped off top of a plastic baggie that Margaret said belonged to Aaron Reeves. Margaret Reeves claimed to have no knowledge of the contraband, while Petted said she only knew of the grinder on top of the television. During continued questioning, Margaret Reeves said Aaron Reeves was attempting to fix a flat tire on a vehicle. Officers observed a similar vehicle with a missing tire in the 500 block of North Second Avenue East, and the owner said the tire should not be missing. The missing tire was located between a carport and a privacy fence between the 500 block of North Second Avenue East address and the vehicle Aaron Reeves was working on. The recovered tire matched the brand of the other three tires on the vehicle at the 500 block of North Second Avenue East address. Aaron Reeves was charged with third-degree burglary, possession of drug paraphernalia and fifth-degree theft and taken to jail. His 15-year-old brother was charged with third-degree burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia and taken to jail. Margaret Reeves, her juvenile daughter and Petted were each cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
