Newton Police Department
• Jennifer L. Atwood, 35, of Newton was charged with operating while intoxicated, second offense, after authorities stopped her at 1 a.m. March 14 in the 200 block of East Fourth Street North for having an inoperable third brake light and license plate light. Atwood appeared to be intoxicated and failed sobriety tests. A preliminary breath test indicated at BAC of more than .08. She was charged and released to appear in court.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
