Margaret Herrington Harmon

Margaret Herrington Harmon, 89, resident of Highland Senior Living, Little Falls, passed peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at St. Gabriel’s Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. March 22, at Lincoln Evangelical Free Church, Cushing, Minn., with visitation one hour prior to services at the church.

Margaret was born to Harry and Mary Herrington in Newton on Feb. 16, 1925. Margaret graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1942. In 1946, she married Charles Harmon. They moved to a farm by Eagle Bend, Minn., in 1955, where they farmed for 10 years. Later moving to the Cushing area on Fish Trap Lake. They lived a full life with many adventures. They were managers at Camp Shamineau for a while after leaving the farm.

After retiring, they continued to travel by spending three years in the Peace Corps in Jamaica and St. Lucia. Margaret was always busy with her flowers, doll collecting and most dear to her heart working with children. They were always involved in the church through Rose City Evangelical Free Church and Lincoln Evangelical Free Church.

She is survived by children, Patrick (Diane) Harmon, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Kathleen (Roger) Enns, Randall, Minn.; sisters Lavola Trout and Janice Varner; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; son Michael (who died a year ago on same day); and brother Jim Herrington.
