Two arrested in Wednesday night drug raids

Two drug search warrants executed Wednesday evening by members of the Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force, the Newton Police Department Tactical Team and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office SERT and K-9 unit resulted in the arrests of two Newton men.

At approximately 9:15 p.m., officers executed the warrants at 321 E. Eighth St. S. #14 and 10 Bungalow Court. During those searches, illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia were found. As a result, Kerry Lynn Guy, 49, and Everett Ray Wagner, 58, were arrested.

Guy, who resided at the East Eighth Street South address, was charged with possession of greater than 5 grams of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, a Class B felony; illegal possession of a Schedule IV drug, a serious misdemeanor; failure to have a drug tax stamp, a Class D felony; possession of marijuana third offense, an aggravated misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.

Wagner, who resided at the Bungalow Court address, was charged with possession of greater than 5 grams of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, a class B felony; possession of a Schedule IV drug, a serious misdemeanor; failure to have a drug tax stamp, a Class D felony; possession of marijuana, a serious misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.

Wagner and Guy are being held without bond at the Jasper County Jail. Additional charges and enhancements may be pending.
