• Christopher L. Cleveland, 31, of Newton was arrested at 7:10 p.m. Monday on a Jasper County warrant for probation violation after authorities located him in the 1000 block of East 10th Street South. He was transported to the Jasper County Jail. While in the area, authorities also located John R. Harlow, 25, of Newton and determined he was wanted on a Poweshiek County warrant for failure to serve jail time. He also was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Joshua D. Fifer, 30, of Newton was charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities responded to a complaint at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21 at West End Sinclair. He was charged for allegedly taking beer, valued at $15.18, without paying. He was located on Feb. 28, arrested and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
• Christofer S. Kingrey, 22, of LeGrand was charged with driving while license suspended and cited for unsafe entry onto roadway after authorities stopped him at 3:34 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of East 12th Street North for backing out into the street in front of the officer’s vehicle. He was charged and released to appear in court.
• Kimberly S. Kizer, 46, of Newton was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of a protective order after authorities responded to a complaint at 10:38 a.m. Monday at a residence in the 700 block of East 10th Street North. The reporting party said he returned home and found Kizer and a man in his home. He stated the man assaulted him. The victim has a protective order against Kizer. During her arrest, a blue glass meth pipe was found in her pocket. She was transported to the Jasper County Jail.
• Jennifer J. Owens, 42, of Newton was charged with driving while license suspended after authorities stopped her at 3:39 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of North 13th Avenue West for driving erratically. She was charged for driving with a suspended license and released to appear in court.
• Keoki-Kale K. Staker, 39, of Marshalltown was charged with driving while license suspended after authorities stopped him at 1:26 a.m. March 5 in the 300 block of First Street North for running a stop sign. He was given a warning for the stop sign and taken to the Jasper County Jail. A passenger in the vehicle, Eric A. Young, 42, of Tama was arrested on a warrant from the Iowa Department of Corrections for parole violation. He also was taken to jail.
• Jeremy J. Stevens, 20, of Newton was charged with driving while license suspended after authorities stopped him at 8:50 p.m. March 5 in the 700 block of First Avenue East for having an inoperable brake light and determined his license was suspended. He was given a warning for the brake light and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
• Jinne M. West, 29, of Newton was charged with driving while license suspended after authorities stopped her at 6:40 p.m. Saturday at East Fifth Street South and South Fifth Avenue East. and determined her license had been suspended. She also was cited for no insurance and expired plates and was released to appear in court.
• Venita M. Williams, 47, of Newton was charged with driving while license barred after authorities stopped her at 10:30 p.m. March 4 in the 600 block of South Eighth Avenue East for having an inoperable headlight and determined her license was suspended. She also was cited for no insurance and was transported to the Jasper County Jail.

• Heather L. Lawson of Ida Grove and Jacob F. Thompson of Maxwell both were charged with operating while intoxicated, second offense, and domestic abuse assault after midnight on March 1. Lawson was driving in the 10400 block of Highway 65 North when she and Thompson became involved in a physical fight. Lawson stopped the vehicle and ran to a residence for help. Thompson allegedly drove the vehicle to the residence. When speaking with authorities, Thompson admitted to drinking alcohol and failed a sobriety test. A Datamaster test indicated at BAC of .107. Lawson refused to submit a breath test. Both were charged and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 16 and older.
