Ten members of the Newton Mat Club qualified for this weekend’s 2014 Iowa AAU State youth wrestling tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. These wrestlers qualified on Feb. 9 at the district tournament held at William Penn in Oskaloosa. Members headed to state are (left to right) front row, Zayne Beal, 85 pounds, second at district; C.J. Snethen, 70 pounds fourth at district; Canaan Terpstra, 75 pounds, second at district; Miles Mintle, 90 pounds, third at district; back row, coach Derrick Terpstra; Tristin Langmaid, 145 pounds, second at district; Austin Romberg, 171 pounds, fourth at district; Gaven Slycord, 118 pounds, first at districts; coach Billy Cupples. Wrestling begins Saturday morning and competition runs through Sunday.

PCM Mustang Mat Club wrestlers (3rd-8th grade) competed in AAU wrestling district, Feb. 9, at William Penn in Oskaloosa. The club had 15 wrestlers qualify for this weekend’s 2014 AAU state youth tournament March 1-2 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
