Raiders, Eagles lose in playoffs

Collins-Maxwell/Baxter’s Raiders and Pella Christian’s Eagles had their basketball seasons end Tuesday night in Class 2A Region 6 play. The two area girls’ teams were ousted from the playoffs in the second round.

The Raiders rallied from a 27-18 halftime deficit against host West Marshall. CMB and West Marshall were tied, 39-39, at the end of regulation at State Center. The Trojans outscored the Raiders, 8-6, in the overtime period to win, 47-45.

Abbie Haupert finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Raiders. Bridget Hurley hit three 3-pointers on her way to 13 points. Lexi Breon handed out 10 assists and scored eight points

CMB finished the 2013-14 season at 7-17.

At Van Meter, Pella Christian fell 62-55 to Van Meter’s Bulldogs. The Eagle girls went 10-13 for the 2013-14 season.

Lauren Jungling led the Eagles with 20 points and six assists. Hannah Beltman added 17 points, plus grabbed eight rebounds. Tessa Howerzyl had 14 points.
