Elda V. Rorabaugh

Elda V. Rorabaugh, 92, of Colfax died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the First United Methodist Church in Colfax, with burial following at Rorabaugh Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Colfax United Methodist Church or the Colfax Fire Department. The daughter of Homer and Carrie (Lind) Clement, Elda was born on Sept. 13, 1921, in Metz. She graduated from Newton High School in 1938, and attended Drake University and the State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Elda taught country school in Jasper County prior to her marriage. On May 22, 1942, she was untied in marriage to John Orland Rorabaugh at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Elda was a 50 year member of both the First United Methodist Church in Colfax and the Sugar Grove Grange.

Those left to honor her memory are her children, Marvin (Marcia) Rorabaugh of Colfax and Joyce Rorabaugh of Urbandale; two grandchildren, Macie Rorabaugh of West Des Moines and Melissa (Chad) Kruse of Altoona; two great-granddaughters, Paige and Rylie Kruse; and two sisters-in-law, Marvel Clement of Newton and Arlene Clement of Washington, Ia. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband in 1996; and two brothers, Carl and Leland.
