Mustangs rout the Comets

MONROE — Trailing by one point going into the second quarter, Prairie City-Monroe’s Mustangs bolted away from North Polk’s Comets. Over the next 16 minutes of play, the Mustangs had a 47-17 run on their way to an 81-59 win Saturday.

PCM stretched its recent win streak to five with two games remaining in the regular season. The Mustangs are 13-3 in Heart of Iowa Conference play and 15-4 overall.

Tonight, the Mustangs head to Nevada then wrap up the season at Baxter against Collins-Maxwell/Baxter’s Raiders Friday.

Logan Gilman dropped in 28 points to lead the Mustangs. Dillon Bruxvoort chipped in with 10 points, plus controlled eight of the team’s 27 rebounds and dished out five assists.

Trey Lindsay scored nine points for PCM. Zach Uhlenhopp, Ricky Reeve and Ryan Jennings each scored seven points. Devon Woody and Luke Pendroy had five points apiece. Tyler Townsend scored two and Troy Vittetoe added one point.
