Movie, storytimes, recipe swap at library

Newton Yearbook Donations

The Newton Public Library is seeking donations of Newton yearbooks to digitize. Copies that digitize best have no water damage, few to no signatures and no missing or torn pages.

While the library will accept any Newton yearbooks, years especially needed are 1964, 1970, 1971, 1977, 1978, 1979 and 1981. If you have questions or would like to donate your yearbooks, stop by the Circulation Desk or call Nicole Lindstrom at (641) 792-4108.

Coffee & Movie:

‘The Secret Garden’

On Wednesday, Nov. 6, stop by the library meeting room to have a cup of coffee and watch “The Secret Garden” (1993).

Synopsis: A young British girl born and raised in India loses her neglectful parents in an earthquake. She is returned to England to live at her uncle’s estate. Neglected once again, she begins exploring the estate and discovers a garden that has been locked. Aided by one of the servants’ brothers, she begins restoring the garden, and eventually discovers some other secrets of the manor.

The library has released their schedule for upcoming computer classes, see it at www.newton.lib.ia.us/services/classes. Thanks to the Jasper Community Foundation Grant the library received, NPL is now able to offer classes throughout the day and in the evenings in the library meeting room with new laptops! Sign up now to learn or refresh your computer skills. All classes are free and offered to the public.

The library will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11, for Veterans Day.
