For those wondering what the changes in health insurance will mean for them and their families, the free “Smart Choice: Health Insurance” workshop offered by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is designed to help them understand their options and make the best decisions for their individual circumstances.

In Jasper County, a “Smart Choice” workshop will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, in room 210A on the DMACC Newton Campus. The workshop will be presented by ISU Extension Family Finance Specialist Margaret VanGinkel.

The program is both non-commercial and apolitical. It introduces the new Health Insurance Marketplace — what it is and how it is used — and will describe the cost reductions available to many Iowans. Participants will also build information and skills for choosing a health insurance policy to meet their needs. Advance registration is required. To sign up, call the Jasper County ISU Extension Office at (641) 792-6433.
