Two Nebraskans who are wanted in connection with a homicide in Guide Rock, Neb., were charged with armed robbery Saturday in Newton.

A story on the Des Moines Register stated officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at Walmart at 5:37 p.m. Saturday. Andrew Casterline, 23, and Shelley Casterline, 41, allegedly attempted to steal a woman’s purse. Andrew ran away, and a group of Newtonians pursued him. He got back into a vehicle with his mother when she jumped out holding a knife.

No one was injured, but the Casterlines were able to drive away. They were later pulled over by an Iowa State Trooper on Interstate 80.

Both Casterlines are currently in the Jasper County Jail. Despite multiple attempts to obtain details from the Newton Police Department, information was not made available by press time.
