Thaddeus W. Hummel

Thaddeus “Thad” Hummel, 42, of Newton passed away Thursday afternoon, Oct. 3, 2013, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A time of remembrances for Thad will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the First Christian Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton, which is entrusted with the arrangements. Burial will be at Dunreath Cemetery rural Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been designated in Thad’s name.

Thaddeus William Hummel, the son of Robert M. and Shirley (Clark) Hummel, was born Sept. 16, 1971, in Knoxville. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High, Class of 1990 and also in 1992, from the National Education Center in West Des Moines. A longtime resident of the Newton area, he was employed as a journeyman electrician. On June 20, 1998, Thad was united in marriage with Jeanne Lane, and to this union was born his daughter, Anna Nikole, whom he cherished very much.

Thad devoted his life to his family and friends, and enjoyed working on cars and was a jack of all trades. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Those left to honor Thad’s memory include his daughter, Anna Nikole Hummel of Baxter; his mother, Shirley Hummel of Newton; his sister, Miguael (Darin) Hummel-Gulling of Newton; his brothers, Brad Hummel and Rob (Tonia) Hummel, all of Newton; his nieces and nephews; many uncles, aunts and cousins; and his many friends.

Thad was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hummel, in 2004 and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.pencefh.com.
