The Jasper County CROP Walk will be on Sunday, Oct. 6, in Newton. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. with the walk beginning at 2 p.m. from the Jasper County Courthouse lawn.
Walkers will proceed east on First Avenue East, south on East 17th Street South, west on South Eighth Avenue East, north on East Fourth Street South and end at The Salvation Army. Refreshments will be served there. Walkers are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the walk.
Minors under 18 must have a permission slip signed by a parent or guardian in order to be able to participate in the walk.
Twenty-five percent of the funds collected will remain in Jasper County. Fifteen percent will go to the Newton Salvation Army. The remaining 10 percent will be equally split among the food pantries in Baxter, Colfax, Kellogg and Monroe.
