Newton FFA members compete at state fair

At the Iowa State Fair, 24 Newton FFA members competed in swine, dairy, floriculture, horticulture, poultry, rabbit, horse, photography and ag mechanics divisions. Member Kristin Samson (pictured) won Grand Champion Breeding Bird in the poultry show. Alex Cleverley’s pony was pronounced grand champion as well. Kristin and Alex both participated in the FFA Parade of Champions at the fair. Arianna Jamieson received the Grand Champion Market Duck award. The Newton FFA chapter overall placed 27 out of 216 chapters.
