With six candidates vying for four seats on the Newton Community School District Board of Education next Tuesday, voters would probably like to know more about those who are seeking their votes.

The Jasper County League of Women Voters is more than happy to oblige. Thursday evening, the organization is sponsoring a candidate forum in the City Council Chambers at City Hall. The event begins at 7 p.m.

Incumbent board president Andy Elbert and director Sheri Benson will be participating, along with former director Joe Klingsensmith. They will be joined by write-in candidates Robyn Friedman, Darrin T. Hamilton and Travis Padget.

Each candidate will make a brief statement. A question-and-answer session with all of the candidates will follow.
