Kathie L. Johnson

Kathie L. Johnson, 66, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at her home in Newton.

Funeral services for Kathie were Saturday at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton.  Memorials are being designated in Kathie’s name to the Newton Senior High School.

Kathie, the daughter of John Edward “Jack” Grosvenor and Lois (Munger) Grosvenor, was born May 5, 1947, in Newton. She was a graduate of the Newton Senior High, class of 1965, and the University Northern Iowa, with a bachelor of arts degree, class of 1969.

Kathie had devoted her life to her family and friends and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newton. She enjoyed celebrating the holidays, needle point, football, playing the organ for church, was a collector, was a people watcher, and was a good and loyal friend. Kathie was very giving and witty and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Those left to honor Kathie’s memory include her children, Steven Chad (Katharine Reilly-Johnson) Johnson of East Northport, N.Y., and Kelley (Terry) Rasmussen of Cypress, Texas; her four grandchildren, Evan Johnson, James Johnson, Brooke Rasmussen and Bradie Rasmussen; her mother, Lois Grosvenor of Newton; and many extended family.

Kathie was preceded in death by her father, Jack, and brother Mike Grosvenor.
