50 Years Ago This Week — Sept. 1-7, 1963  

Vern’s TV at 210 First Ave. E., B & O Service Sales at 111 First Ave. E., and the Goodyear store at 223 N. Second Ave. W. were advertising new color TVs for sale … The Capitol Theater was showing the movie PT-109, starring Cliff Robertson as Lt. John F. Kennedy … Work was underway on the relocation of Hwy. 14 north of Newton.  The work would not be fully completed until 1964, but the new intersection of Highway 6 and Highway 14 was expected to be finished by the end of 1963.
