To the editor:
I would like to thank the many Newton and Jasper County citizens who have been so supportive of Skiff and the Skiff Foundation during the last 11 years while I have been the Foundation Director.
Your contributions have made it possible to continually update Skiff Medical Center, starting with the Monarch Wing project in 2003, where more than $1.2 million was raised in a little over six months, followed by purchases of equipment for various departments and renovations of the Philips Imaging Center at Skiff, the Emergency Department and the Med-Surg East wing.
More recent donations have made possible the renovation of our first-floor chapel and will soon lead to final renovation of our OB department. We cannot thank you enough for helping these projects.
As I say farewell, I am excited to welcome my successor, Leisa Zylstra. Now in her fourth year at Skiff, Leisa assumed the role of Foundation and Events Manager earlier this month. She has been a resident of Newton since 1999.
I ask that you continue to support the Skiff Foundation and Leisa as well as you have supported me this past 11 years.
