Emergency landing during Davenport air show

DAVENPORT (AP) — Engine failure forced a plane to make an emergency landing during an air show at the Davenport Municipal Airport.

The accident occurred Sunday shortly after the takeoff by John Klatt of Precision Power Aerobatics.

Quad-City Air Show President Ken Hopper says Klatt’s engine blew. It splattered so much oil on the front of the canopy that Klatt had to pop it off so he could see. Klatt received some minor burns and other injuries and was treated after he quickly landed his plane.

The incident stopped the show for about 10 minutes.
