E. Earlene White

Eva Earlene White, 90, of Newton passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Skiff Medical Center under the care of Skiff Hospice.

A funeral memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at the Foursquare Church in Newton. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorials are being designated in Earlene’s name and may be left at the church or funeral home.

Earlene, the daughter of Earl H. and Eva Marie (Russell) Trout, was born Aug. 12, 1922, in rural Jasper County, Iowa. She was a graduate of the Kellogg High School.

In 1942, Earlene was united in marriage with William R. White in Missouri. She was employed as an interior decorator by Lillian’s Curtain Shop and Switzers Furniture. A lifelong resident of the Jasper County area, she devoted her life to her husband, family and friends. She was very active as a member of the Foursquare Church in Newton and enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and singing. Earlene will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Those left to honor Earlene’s memory include her sons, Dick (Ann) White of Decorah and Craig (Stacy Caroll) White of Reasnor; her three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; her sister, Carolyn (Richard) Edmonds; her brother, Jim (Elaine) Trout; and her many friends, including special friends Jack and Carolyn Meyers of Rock Creek.

Earlene was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Doris Davis Trout; and her husband, William, on Sept. 29, 2012.
