Cleone Johnson

Cleone Bresnahan Johnson, 74, of Boone and formerly of Newton, died at her home on May 11, 2013. She gifted her body to Des Moines University in Des Moines. Following the study, her body will be cremated and a graveside service and burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waukon.

Cleone was born in Waukon, Iowa, on Sept. 15, 1938, the daughter of Leslie and Grace (Burnham) Bresnahan. On Nov. 2, 1985, Cleone married Walter Johnson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She worked as a silk screener for the Vernon Advertising Co. in Newton for over 25 years, retiring in 1996.

Cleone enjoyed making crafts, especially beading. She and Walter loved to camp at Don Williams, the former Episcopal Center, and especially Red Rock. They wintered for many years in Alpine, Texas. Cleone’s family was very important to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, James and Russell Clement; and a daughter, Tina Rudolph.

Cleone is survived by three sons, Gregg Clement and his wife, Melisa, of Nelsonville, Ohio, Michael Clement, and Leslie Clement and wife Sandy, all of Boone; 13 grandchildren including Kacie, Tisha, Jenna, Allyssa and Kelli; and 16 great-grandchildren including Olivia.

In memory of Cleone, memorials may be directed to the family.
