PCM girls capture conference title
The Prairie City-Monroe girls golf team has been consistently good all season, and that didn’t change with arguably the team’s biggest meet to this point on Wednesday.
The Mustangs shot a 382, just one stroke shy of a school record, to win the Heart of Iowa Conference meet at Honey Creek Golf Club in Boone. Nevada finished second with a 404 and South Hamilton was third with a 432, while fellow county school Collins-Maxwell-Baxter finished eighth at 529.
“I am very happy for the girls, as they were very nervous going into today’s meet, worrying about the course conditions and the weather,” PCM coach Val Edwards said. “We also knew Nevada and South Hamilton would probably be our toughest competition.”
