Tickets remain on sale for first-ever National Day of Prayer event

Thursday, Newton civic and church leaders will gather with other members of the community as part of the annual National Day of Prayer celebration.

The goal, organizers have said, was to create an ecumenical opportunity for community leaders and local pastors to come together and pray for the community. There will be no political speeches, or long-winded treatises on the issues of the day.

Instead, for the first time ever, the community will simply come together from 7 to 8:30 a.m. that day for prayer and breakfast together. The event will be held at the DMACC Conference Center, and tickets remain on sale for $5 each at Choices Christian Book Store and at Bridgehouse Coffee Co.

Tickets will also be available at the door. The event is sponsored by the following participating churches: First Assembly of God, Newton Christian Reformed Church, Community Heights Alliance, Newton Foursquare Church, Haven Vineyard Church, Our Savior Lutheran Church, The River, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, United Presbyterian Church and Newton Church of The Way
