Moore retires after 14 years at McCann Village

After 14 years of work with McCann Village, a retirement reception was held in honor of Ruth Moore on Monday afternoon.

Moore moved to Iowa from Austin, Texas, in 1999 where she began work as administrator for the residence.

“Fourteen short years later, I am retiring,” Moore said. “As I look back over all those years, I begin to realize how much I will miss the people. I have made many good friends among my residents as well as our staff and have appreciated the support of the Board of Directors.”

“I will not miss rolling out of bed at 5:30 every morning,” she joked. “In retirement, I intend to fully enjoy my new passion of flower gardening and rekindle an old one, watercolor painting.”

Moore’s position will be assumed by Kathryn Thompson, who recently moved back to Iowa after spending 25 years living and working on the East Coast. Thompson was born and raised in southwest Iowa and is a graduate of Drake University.
