Annual Project AWAKE plant sale set for May

Project AWAKE is hosting its annual plant sale at the Newton Arboretum from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 4.

A pre-sale will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 3, at the Krumm Center, 3000 N. Fourth Ave. E. in Newton. All proceeds benefit the Newton Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.

On Friday evening, the pre-sale guests will have the opportunity to be first to select from the assortment of plants and flowers available for sale. There will be live music and refreshments. A $10 donation is requested.

A drawing will take place on Saturday for a free one-day rental of the Krumm Center (valued at approximately $100). Also on Saturday, the Arts Connection will be on hand to offer an art project with free flower pots for children to paint and decorate. There is no admission for the plant sale on Saturday.

The Newton Arboretum and Botanical Gardens are operated by the non-profit organization Project AWAKE. The grounds require extensive care and maintenance to stay looking beautiful. For more information, visit www.newtonarboretum.com.
