4-year-old injured in dog attack

A 4-year-old was airlifted to a Des Moines hospital after being attacked by a dog in Prairie City.

At 2:01 p.m. today, police and paramedics were dispatched to 300 South Marshall Street in Prairie City for a child who had been bitten by a dog, an American Staffordshire. Upon arrival, a 4-year-old female was transported by air ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing at this time. Prairie City Police were assisted by officers from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and Monroe Police Department.
