Newton Police Department

• Joseph P. Anderson, 31, of Monroe was cited for abandoning his vehicle and driving while license suspend after police where dispatched on a report of an abandoned vehicle to the 1100 block of East 14th Street South at 5:26 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, Anderson was not at the location, but returned shortly after, where it was discovered he was driving with a suspended license. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Brian L Greve, 54, of Newton was charged with serious domestic assault at 10:33 p.m. Thursday at the Mid-Iowa Motel for an incident that occurred on April 13 at 8 p.m. at 205 E. 19th St. N. He is alleged to have thrown and beaten a female victim. When police originally arrived at the scene, he was not at the location. A warrant was then issued for his arrest, which led to his discovery at the Mid-Iowa Motel. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Shawn D. Sabin, 28, of Newton was charged with serious domestic assault at 2:33 a.m. Friday after turning himself into police for an incident that occurred on April 10th at 8:27 p.m. He is alleged to have assaulted a female victim causing minor injuries. Sabin was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
