• Phyllis M. Anderson, 53, of Grinnell was cited for following too closely after being involved in a two-vehicle collision in the 1700 block of First Avenue East at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Anderson allegedly rear-ended a vehicle driven by Peggy L. Martin, 81, of Newton. Anderson reported feeling pain after the accident but refused medical treatment.
• Jacob J. Kendall, 24, of Newton was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant issued for a domestic assault charge at 1:27 a.m. Tuesday at the Quality Inn Hotel for an incident that originally occurred Nov. 14. In November, officers were dispatched to 901 S. 13th Ave. E. #10 on a report of assault, but when they arrived, he was not at the location. Kendall is alleged to have repeatedly grabbed and pushed his girlfriend. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
