Red Pride Donation

Darrell Sarmento, executive director of the Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce, presented a $1,500 check to the Red Pride Community Service Day. Accepting the check are NHS Coordinator of Community Service Day Allison Grier and Principal Bill Peters. The money came from a fundraising breakfast the Chamber held in March with Newton natives Joe and Hal Davis of West End Salvage in Des Moines. Red Pride Community Service Day will take place May 1. That day, high school students and businesses will partner together to tackle various clean-up and curb-appeal projects around the community.
