As part of a plea deal, two local businessmen, Jaswant Singh of Petro Stop in Newton and Jarnail Manhani of the Kellogg Country Store, agreed to issue a written apology for selling products that may contain “K-2” compounds or any products which may contain “bath salts.”
Both men were charged in late January 2012 with aggravated misdemeanor counts of conspiracy to manufacture, deliver or possess with intent to deliver synthetic marijuana following a Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force drug sting.
At the time, officers found more than 2,700 grams of synthetic marijuana, drug paraphernalia and cash at Petro Shop and more than 130 grams of synthetic marijuana, drug paraphernalia and cash at the Kellogg County Store.
In addition to the apology, both men promised not to sell any products containing K-2 or bath salts and were ordered to pay $100 each in court costs.
