Robert ‘Bud’ Allan

Robert “Bud” Allan, 83, of Baxter passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Park Centre in Newton.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at Bethany United Church of Christ in Rural Baxter. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, at Bethany United Church of Christ with Pastor Wanda Seydel officiating. A private family burial will follow at the Bethany Cemetery in Rural Baxter.

Bud was born on Aug. 12, 1929, in Newton, Iowa to James and Grace (Loupee) Allan. He attended and graduated from Baxter High School. Following high school, Bud joined the Army, where he served his country during the Korean Conflict and also toured Europe.

When returning home from the service, he married Beth Krampe. In 1953, the two began to farm in the Baxter area and also started their family life together. Bud retired from farming in 1999. He was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ, where he has held several various officer positions over the years. Bud loved to spend time with his family and friends, farming, gardening, going mushroom hunting and playing cards and dominos.

Those left to cherish Bud’s loving memories are his children, Dan (Linda) Allan, Duane “Dewey” (Rob Conley) Allan, Scott (Mickey Koons) Allan, Sade (Harold) Keller and Denise (Owen) Aiona; grandchildren, Brooke, Nichole, Jered, Danielle, Jordan, Paige, Cory, Brandon and Isaiah; great-grandchildren, Austin, Zachary, Kaitlynn, Ayden, Carson, Reilly and Brennan; special friend Delores Wastier and family; and brother-in-laws, Dale (Helene) Krampe and Ike Kielly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Beth; daughter LuAnn; and sister Joanne Kielly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Bethany United Church of Christ or to the Robert Allan memorial fund for distribution to various local charities at a future date.

Fredregill Family Funeral Home in Baxter has been entrusted with the care of Bud and his family.
