Area Roundup: Raider girls track wins at Ballard
The Collins-Maxwell-Baxter girls track team took a big step toward one of its goals for the season on Friday, winning the Class B side of an invitational hosted by Ballard of Huxley. Colfax-Mingo also participated in the meet, taking sixth.
“I am very pleased with our performances tonight,” CMB coach Jerry Meinerts said. “It was a rough start to the season with all the indoor practices, snow days, etc., but for our girls to come out and run as well as they did tonight, I am very satisfied with where we are right now. We still have a lot of work to do, and we need to keep improving.”
CMB got first-place finishes from Bridget Hurley in the 400-meter dash with a time of one minute, 4.95 seconds, Anne Deutsch in the 800 (2:39.55), Shelby Berg in the 1,500 (5:43.06) and the 4x800 relay team of Deutsch, Berg, Kayla Hennick and Hayley Leonard (10:49.38).
