Donations for the Newton Fourth of July fireworks display, which is totally funded by private donations from citizens and businesses, may be placed in one of the fireworks canisters around town or mailed to City of Newton — Fireworks, 3000 N., Fourth Ave. E., Newton, IA 50208. Park board members are responsible for raising funds for fireworks. The board’s ultimate goal this year is $7,000, but $3,000 must be raised by the end of March in order to get the fireworks ordered. Last year’s fireworks display (pictured) was provided by J&M Displays.
