The Newton Police Department conducted a seatbelt survey on March 6.

The survey was completed in three different Newton locations during daytime hours by observing seatbelt usage of motorists and their passengers. Overall seatbelt usage was good, with 89 percent of motorists and passengers observed properly wearing their seatbelts.

The Newton Police Department would like to remind motorists to buckle up, slow down, and obey all traffic laws.

Primary funding for the project was provided by the Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau.
