• John J. Husted, 53, of Newton was arrested on a Poweshiek County warrant for parole violation on fraud and drug charges after authorities located him at 7:10 p.m. Monday at the Mid-Iowa Motel. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Misty M. Patterson, 30, of Bel Grade, Mont., was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated after authorities responded to a complaint at 3 a.m. Feb. 18 of a possibly intoxicated person leaving an apartment complex at 1800 W. Fourth St. N. The suspect was located in the 200 block of North 19th Avenue West and identified as Patterson. She smelled of alcohol, failed sobriety tests and refused chemical testing. She also was cited for registration violation, failure to have a driver’s license and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Brandy S. Ryther, 40, of Newton was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities responded to her request for an ambulance at 1:34 a.m. Monday at 801 N. Eighth Ave. E. and observed a marijuana pipe in her residence. Ryther was taken to Skiff Medical Center for evaluation and then to the Jasper County Jail.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 16 and older.
