Kelley Appointed to Capitol Planning Commission

DES MOINES — House Democratic Leader Kevin McCarthy of Des Moines has appointed State Representative Dan Kelley of Newton to the Iowa State Capitol Planning Commission.

“I am honored and excited to be a part of this important commission to preserve and protect Iowa’s historic and beautiful Capitol complex,” Kelley said. “I want future Iowans to be as proud of our state capitol as we are today. This appointment puts me in a position to help maintain the greatest capitol in the country.”

The Capitol Planning Commission was established by the Iowa Legislature to advise on future development of the Capitol Complex - its buildings, statues, fountains and monuments. In cooperation with the Department of Administrative Services, the commission develops and implements a modernization program for the Capitol Complex along with preserving its spirit and purpose.
