Area employers invited to free Job/Career Fair
Des Moines Area Community College in Newton, Newton Development Corporation, Jasper County Economic Development Corporation and Iowa State University Extension & Outreach in Jasper County are sponsoring a free Job/Career Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 28 at the Newton DMACC Campus Room 210.
“We held a Job/Career Fair last fall, and it was well attended,” NDC Executive Director Frank Liebl said. “In a follow-up with employers who participated, they encouraged us to hold another one in the spring. In addition, we are now working with Iowa Workforce Development and others to hold a workshop on Friday, March 15. This workshop will focus on how to prepare a resume, work on interview skills and other aspects that are important in securing a job in today’s workplace.”
Mary Entz, provost of the Newton DMACC Campus said, “As we work to best serve out students and help them reach their educational and career goals, we’d also like to serve our employers. Hopefully, a job fair will help employers find new talent. It will also provide an opportunity for employers to speak directly with job seekers about specific skill sets required for certain types of employment.”
