Newton Police Department

• Joshua M. Cupples, 36, of Montezuma was charged with driving while license barred after authorities stopped him at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday at Kum & Go, 405 First Ave. E., for having a cracked windshield and determined he did not have a valid driver’s license. He was giving a warning for the windshield and taken to jail.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 16 and older.
