Iowa Hawkeye coach Erik Campbell leaves program

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says wide receivers coach Erik Campbell has left theHawkeyes staff.

Ferentz also says D.J. Hernandez has joined his staff as a graduate assistant. He replaces David Raih, who left for a job at Texas Tech.

Ferentz didn’t elaborate on the departure of Campbell, who had been with the program since 2008, other than to say Campbell wants to pursue other opportunities. But Iowa’s passing game struggled mightily in 2012, as quarterback James Vandenberg threw just seven TD passes in 12 games.
