Timmins avenged two earlier losses in the season against Saydel’s Amos Wright to earn his district spot, while Coleman and Rains also earned pins in their second-place matches.

After being surprised in the semifinals, conference champion Ron Marshall (182) ended up taking third, as did Tristan Clark (126), Skyler Koder (138) and Ian Reed (145).

“The guys wrestled hard all day, and I’m happy we qualified four,” PCM coach Cory Waddell said. “You always want more, but four from this young group is good. Overall, it was a successful day for this young team.”

PCM will compete in its district meet at Ballard of Huxley.

Colfax-Mingo

Lynnville-Sully wasn’t the only team to find some success at BGM on Saturday.

Colfax-Mingo’s Class 1A No. 5 Jimmy Abell (106) and Dylan Albright (170) took steps toward another berth at state, while Richard Blom (126) and Brandon Byal (285) will make the trip to district with them after the Tigerhawks’ fourth-place finish.

“Our wrestlers competed today with an intensity that we have been waiting to see,” C-M coach Bryan Poulter said. “We didn’t come home with any bad taste in our mouths. We competed hard and with a purpose.”

Similar to a lot of his tournaments this season, Abell didn’t have a contested match until the finals, when he pinned Tri-County-Montezuma’s Mason Garber in one minute, 10 seconds. After receiving a forfeit in the first round, Albright cruised to a championship with consecutive pins of 59 seconds and 1:08, respectively.

Blom and Byal each received byes in the first round before Blom earned a decision and Byal stuck his opponent in the next round to reach the title bout. Teammates Ty Carlson (113) and Chris Warner (195) each placed third.

“This next week will be a big bonus week for Richard and Brandon as they train and learn about the next level of wrestling,” Poulter said. “We look forward to districts.”

The Tigerhawks will once again join Lynnville-Sully at districts in Pleasantville.

CMB

After making the long trip out to Ogden, the Collins-Maxwell-Baxter wrestlers’ season came to an end on Saturday.

Lehvi Bucklin (170) and Dawson Dahlke (285) led the way for the Raiders with third-place finishes, Both suffered pins in the semifinal round, but scored victories in wrestlebacks. Both also finished with more than 20 wins on the year.
