Michael James Wiley

Michael James Wiley of Centennial, Colo., went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Jan. 12, 2013. A celebration of life was held on Jan. 15, 2013, at his church, Cherry Creek Evangelical Presbyterian in Englewood, Colo. Burial took place at Castle Rock, Colo.

A celebration of life reception for Mike is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at the Bondurant Federated Church, 103 Second St. SW. in Bondurant, Iowa.

Mike was born Aug. 24, 1962, to Clyde and Mary (Paulsen) Wiley in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Mike loved growing up in Newton, Iowa. He treasured his family, his home, his church and all of his many friends. Mike always remained a loyal Newton Cardinal. In 1980, Mike graduated from Newton Senior High School, where he was captain of the NHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes, sang in the choir and was an All State tenor and played football, basketball and especially enjoyed playing tennis for his Dad, “Coach Wiley.”

Mike attended Northwestern Bible College in Roseville, Minn., where he majored in biology, lettered four years in football and one year in tennis. At Northwestern, he met the love of his life, Sandra Dreyer. They were married July 21, 1984. Mike and Sandi were blessed with three sons, Jordan Michael, Westin Michael and Graham Michael. All three boys are presently in college.

For the last 18 years, Mike worked for Hennessey Industries as a five-state district sales manager, where he was valued as “an outstanding employee and friend and a man of Christian character.”

Mike cherished his time spent with Sandi and their three sons, his family and friends. He loved to attend his boys’ activities, often helping out and serving as coach. Mike enjoyed the outdoors. He was an excellent fly fisherman and tennis player. He loved taking walks with his best friend Sandi and their yellow lab, Newton. Mike looked forward to family celebrations and vacations, especially coming back home to Newton and trips to Yellowstone Park. He loved to worship and have fellowship with family and friends at their church and to be a part of the Bible study group. Mike had a humble, peaceful spirit, a great smile and laugh, a warm handshake and spoke with a soft voice. He had a big caring heart for his family, friends and those in need. Mike loved people. His greatest passion and purpose was loving, serving and reflecting God. At the age of 7, Mike invited Jesus to be his Lord and Savior, and even though he did not live a long life, he made his years count for eternity.

Those left to honor Mike’s memory include his wife, Sandi; his sons, Jordan, Westin and Graham; his parents, Clyde and Mary; his three sisters, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, Diane (Corbin) Sidney and Christian VanWyk of Bondurant, Iowa, Kathy (Jeff) Ryan, Taylor, Joshua and Lydia Sanderson of Bondurant, Iowa, and Laura (Ryan) Hudson and Harrison Meixner of Madison, Wis.; and many other beloved relatives and friends. Those Mike joined in heaven are his Godly grandparents, Raymond and Florence Wiley and Jack and Laura Paulsen.
