Police Blotter

• Jackson R. Heard, 21, of Newton was already in the Jasper County Jail when police discovered an outstanding warrant for manufacturing or conspiracy of methamphetamine at 5 p.m. Thursday. He remains in jail.

• Virginia L. Lester, 64, of Newton was charged with fifth-degree theft after officers where called to Hy-Vee at 7:07 p.m. She allegedly stole a steak worth $13.02. She was released to appear.

• Christopher S. McClurg, 21, of Newton was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and cited for driving without insurance after officers pulled him over for a traffic stop in the 300 block of South Eighth Avenue East at 6:59 p.m. Tuesday. Officers detected a odor of marijuana from his vehicle and discovered a pipe in his vehicle that had marijuana residue. He was released to appear.

• Kerry J Quick, 19, of Newton was arrested at on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear after officers were called to 115 N. Second Ave. E. at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday. He was taken to Jasper County Jail.

• Terry L. Wilfawn, 23, of Newton was charged with third-degree theft after officers were called to Walmart at 7:50 p.m. Jan. 18. Wilfawn allegedly walked out of the store with a 40-inch television, camera and DVD player altogether valued at $845. Officers located him in the 700 block of East Seventh Street North, where the items where located in his vehicle. He was taken to Jasper County Jail.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office

• James L. Crawford, 43, of Grinnell was cited for driving while license suspended after officers pulled him over for a taillight violation in the 1300 block of South 13th Avenue East at 9:39 p.m. Thursday. He was released to appear.

Prairie City Police Department

• A 14-year-old Prairie City boy was charged with two counts of serious assault after police responded to a domestic disturbance complaint at 8:15 p.m. Jan. 12 at a residence in the 100 block of North State Street in Prairie City. The boy was charged for allegedly assaulting his mother and step-father, causing injuries. Juvenile court services requested that the juvenile be held. He was transported to the Iowa Boys Training School in Eldora.
