Betty Earleen Reed, the daughter of Harry Ephrim and Mary A. (Allison) Anderson, was born May 5, 1927, in Monte Ray Park, Calif.

Betty had worked for General Motors in east Los Angeles as a computer operator and as an operations manager for Valley Medical Center in Fresno, Calif. She moved to Newton, Iowa, in 1988.  Betty enjoyed being close to her family, painting, ceramics and genealogy. She was a member of the Jasper County Senior Citizens Center.

Betty died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Skiff Medical Center under the care of Skiff Hospice. She was 85 years old.  Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Helen and Dorothea.

Those left to honor Betty’s memory include her cousins Wes Knapp, Teresa Holtan, Debbie Knapp and Connie (Mike) Ertl.

Pence-Reese Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Private family services will be at a later date. Cards may be sent to Connie at 1532 E. 60th St. N. Newton, IA 50208.
