IGHSAU releases girls basketball pairings

The high school girls basketball postseason began to take form with the recent release of the Iowa Girl’s High School Athletic Union’s regional pairings.

Starting things off in Class 4A, Newton will face Des Moines Hoover in Des Moines on Feb. 13. As of Monday, the Huskies were sporting a record of 7-8 out of the Central Iowa Metropolitan League. The Cardinals are sporting a record of 4-9 overall going into tonight’s conference showdown at Pella Christian.

In Class 3A, Collins-Maxwell-Baxter will spend the first round at home when the Raiders host East Marshall at 7 p.m. on Feb. 9. East Marshall enters Tuesday with an overall record of 2-15. Also in 3A, Prairie City-Monroe will take a short road trip west to Bondurant-Farrar, also at 7 p.m. Feb. 9. The Bluejays have a current record of 9-4.
